Interested in Contributing a Guest Post (Article) on Parent.com?

We’re changing the conversation around parenthood – and to do that, we need you! The people walking the walk, day in and day out and through the night. You don’t have to be a parent. You just need to be a person. So whether you’re raising a child, know someone raising a child, or specialize in a relevant area of interest, we’re gathering tips, advice, stories, and general commentary that together paint a 360° picture of what it’s like to be a parent.

Here are some (though certainly not all) of the voices we’d love to hear from:

• Experts in wellness, nutrition, mental health, finances, etc. Any field related to the daily life of families.
• Thought leaders in early education, childhood development, STEAM, or other learning methods, including early learning.
• Parents who are experienced in any of the above topics (you guys are the real MVPs).
• Soon-to-be or want-to-be parents who’d like to share takeaways from their pregnancy, fertility, or adoption journeys.
• Aunts, uncles, grandmothers, cousins, friends – you all are irreplaceable parts of the village and keep us sane and supported.

How to contribute a Guest Post:

If the contributing author (“Contributor”) wishes to contribute a guest post for possible publication on one of ParentCo’s Publications (“Guest Post”), Contributor must complete and submit a Request to Publish using this form, and including 2-3 links to other pieces Contributor has solely written, preferably on different websites, that are geared toward the ParentCo’s target audience and/or subject matter.  Contributor must include the desired topic of the Guest Post, and shall not submit the complete article for which publication on Parent.com is sought.  ParentCo will review the Request to Publish and if, in ParentCo’s sole discretion, ParentCo wishes to further pursue an article, ParentCo will contact Contributor for more information about commencing writing the Guest Post.

1. When quoting others, Contributor must only quote the minimum amount of material needed to make the point, and properly cite the source.
2. Posts will acknowledge authorship, but will be the sole property of ParentCo.
3. Affiliate links shall not be included in Guest Posts.
4. ParentCo reserves the right to add its own affiliate links where appropriate.
5. ParentCo reserves the right to publish display ads (images, video, HTML) to the article page at its sole discretion.
6. Links to any third-party site must be relevant to the topic and approved by ParentCo, and will be used in ParentCo’s sole discretion.
7. ParentCo welcomes original images and/or original video (“Original Media”) to accompany Contributor’s Guest Post, which will be modified and/or used in the sole discretion of ParentCo. ParentCo reserves the right to select any images/video to publish with the Guest Post.  All Original Media provided by the Contributor must meet the following requirements:
   • If people are included in the Original Media, then Contributor must provide a written release to ParentCo allowing ParentCo to use each likeness in conformity with the terms herein.
   • Original Media submissions must be relevant to the Guest Post.
   • Contributor may include suggested image alt tags for all Original Media supplied by Contributor but it is not required. ParentCo will modify or add the contents of all alt text as needed for SEO.
8. Once the Guest Post has been submitted to ParentCo, Contributor may ask ParentCo in writing (email) for permission to publish it and the Original Media elsewhere online, in part or in whole, including on Contributor’s own website or blog. If permission is granted, the Guest Post and Original Media may only be republished with a canonical tag on the republished article’s page that points to the article’s URL on ParentCo’s Publications. A canonical tag is a type of meta tag which tells search engines where the post or article originated (was first published).  Contributors may use this format for the tag: <link rel="canonical" href="https://www.parent.com/blogs/conversations/your-article-handle" /> ParentCo will allow reposts in its sole discretion, taking into consideration the context of the repost.
9. If ParentCo uses Contributor’s Guest Post, Contributor may promote it on his or her own website, Facebook, Twitter or other social media forums by including a short introductory sentence explaining what the article is about and a link to the article (you cannot post the article itself) on ParentCo’s Publications.
10. ParentCo may share and promote the Guest Post on a variety of social media networks, but does not guarantee any particular site or audience reach.
11. Contributors may submit a short bio statement that may or may not be used on ParentCo’s Publications in ParentCo’s sole discretion. A separate bio page for Contributor may be created, and ParentCo will publish this separate bio page in its sole discretion.
12. Contributors will be allowed to have one or more links to their website within the Contributor acknowledgment or bio, depending on the current template in use at the time of publication. This may not be an affiliate link or point to an affiliate site. If Contributor does not have a website, one link may be provided to either Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or LinkedIn. ParentCo reserves the right to remove the Contributor acknowledgment link in its sole discretion.
13. Contributors must provide a photo of themselves to be included in the Contributor biography (hi-res, square is best, 300x300 to 600x600) at ParentCo’s sole discretion. Contributor grants to ParentCo a non-exclusive, worldwide, transferrable, irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free license to edit and publish this photo in connection with the Guest Post, and any derivative works thereof.
14. ParentCo generally does not pay for Guest Posts. If Contributor’s Guest Post is published, Contributor acknowledges and accepts that the recognition received as well as any promotion from ParentCo and links to Contributor’s bio, profile, website, or ParentCo Publications are good and valuable consideration for the Content, Guest Post, and Original Media.  If Contributor decides to submit Content, a Guest Post, or Original Media to ParentCo, Contributor does so with the knowledge that Contributor is not entitled to any monetary compensation.
15. All Guest Posts are reviewed and approved by ParentCo prior to posting.
16. ParentCo reserves the right to remove a Guest post without prior notice to the Contributor.
17. By submitting a Request to Publish a Guest Post to ParentCo, Contributor agrees that Contributor has read and understood this these terms, as well as ParentCo’s Contributing Author Terms, and agrees to be bound.

Follow these instructions to submit a Request to Publish

Step 1. Fill out all required* fields in the form. Required fields include:

• Your name (first and last)
• Your email address
• The desired topic of your Guest Post (article)
• 2-3 links to your published writing (currently live online). Show us your work – we want to get to know you! We prefer to see samples on different websites, ideally about a subject-matter that is relevant to the desired topic of your Guest Post, but it’s not required. Choose whichever pieces you feel best reflect your best work as a writer.

Step 2. Fill out the optional field – only if you want. You can use that space to include a message to ParentCo. about your writing or tell us why you want to contribute a Guest Post to this community. Or just tell us a joke. We love jokes.

Step 3. Read the Contributing Writer’s Terms. This is important – do not submit a complete Guest Post (article) through this form or via email before we have received your request and contacted you about contributing a piece of writing. Unfortunately, we are unable to use any submissions received before this application process is complete.

As you are thinking about what to write, please keep the following in mind and be sure to read the complete and comprehensive list of guidelines and required criteria (i.e., our standard Contributing Writer's Terms) before sending in your request to publish.

1. You, as the author, warrant and represent that anything you contribute is your own sole and original work, you are the sole owner of the copyright at the time of submission, and that work has not been published on any other website, forum, chat, or social media network.
2. When quoting others, quote the minimum amount of material needed to make the point, and properly cite the source. Plagiarism is not allowed.
3. Guest Posts typically average 750-1,000 words but the length may vary depending on the subject matter and other factors. Posts longer than 3,000 words are discouraged.
4. Links to any third-party site must be relevant to the topic and approved by ParentCo.
5. Posts will acknowledge authorship but will be the sole property of ParentCo.
6. Once we’ve contacted you about submitting a Guest Post, and your Guest Post has been submitted, you may ask in writing (email) for permission to publish it elsewhere online (including on your own website or blog). If permission is granted, the Guest Post and Original Media may only be republished with a canonical tag that points to the article’s URL on parent.com. Reposts are allowed at ParentCo.’s sole discretion, taking into consideration the context of the repost.
7. If we use your submission, you may promote it on your own website and in social media with a short intro and a link to the article on parent.com (you cannot post the article itself).
8. You will have the option to submit a short bio and headshot/profile pic, but we cannot guarantee that a dedicated author page will be created.

Guest Posts are typically unpaid. If you decide to submit content for publication, you are doing so with the knowledge that you may not be entitled to any monetary compensation. Many contributing writer's accept that the recognition received as well as any promotion from ParentCo. (which may include links to your bio, social media pages, website, or other Company Publications) are good and valuable consideration for the content contributed.
